Solve the riddle for a chance to win a free shoot.
I just moved to Knoxville, and, honestly, this is the most fun way I could think of to meet the people I get to photograph. You pick the session you want. Answer one riddle, and that places you in a drawing to have your shoot on the house. No tricks. No hidden charges. If you win, you get the full pipeline, a photo shoot, a private gallery, a downloadable full-resolution album, and a matted and framed 8x10 print.
- Choose any session type and answer the riddle on the inquiry form. You have to get it right to qualify.
- Follow @taylormacbrown_photography on Instagram and drop your handle on the form. That part is required.
- It's free to enter, one entry per person/family, no purchase needed.
- Entries close August 20. The winner is drawn at random and announced August 30 on social media and by email.
- The winner has one week to respond and confirm the shoot.
- Your shoot is booked on your requested date and must take place in 2026. For weddings, the venue and date have to be confirmed first.
- The prize is one free session of your choosing, plus a private gallery, a downloadable full-resolution album, and a matted and framed 8x10 print.
- The free shoot is limited to locations within about an hour of greater Knoxville. Farther out is possible if you cover the travel.
- If you win, your free-shoot photos may be featured in my portfolio and promotional work.
Running July 20 to August 20, 2026. Winner announced August 30 on social media and by email.
“Taylor gave us the best photo experience ever. He really took his time with us, all twelve of us, and got the absolute best out of everyone. He waited for the perfect combination of evening light and shadows on the Deschutes River to capture the essence of our family. Thanks to him, we have wonderful images and memories that will last a lifetime.”
“Taylor was fantastic to work with! He was personable, professional, and made everyone feel comfortable throughout the session. His knowledge and passion for photography were evident, and he has an incredible ability to capture genuine, meaningful moments between people and their pets. So many people commented on his professionalism and enjoyed working with him. Taylor truly cares about creating impactful memories, and executes high quality content.”
Every frame a painting
I didn't become a photographer the usual way. My background is in the far more demanding world of cinema: documentary and commercial videography, editing, and 3D animation. For years photography was just something I folded into a contract, never the headline, always the extra.
In recent years, I noticed a pattern. Clients kept asking for the stills, single frames pulled straight from the footage, before anything else I delivered. In some cases, those frames traveled further and got used more than the films they came from. Several of the portraits on this site are exactly that, stills extracted from video, and they are how I learned my photographs were the most valuable thing I made.
So I closed out my video and 3D contracts and went all in on photography. I enjoy it more, the work is stronger, my clients are happier, and the years behind a cinema camera gifted me with a perspective very few photographers have. Everything pointed to the same next step.
I still treat every frame like a painting: part carefully crafted science, part luck, a little charm, and a lot of practice, waiting for the exact moment light, gesture, expression, and meaning settle into place. The one in a million frame.
